KhaOs Terres de l’Ebre is proud to showcase the work of artist Pilar Lanau.

​

The symbiosis of body and artwork

​

Pilar Lanau surprises with a striking contrast: a frail phenotype combined with a persistent gaze, almost frozen in a burst of energy that betrays a monumental inner strength. From the very first encounter, the correlation between her being and her artistic production emerges as an inseparable truth. It is this vital force, this raw presence in the world, that is embodied today within the KhaOs Terres de L’Ebre space.

The reinvention of gesture and visual language

​

Throughout her artistic journey, Pilar Lanau has shaped a singular visual idiom, a true reinvention of the pictorial gesture. In her work, the line liberates itself from any illustrative or decorative function: it becomes a somatic extension of the artist, the embodiment of a driven, instinctual tension. Her works act as sensory snapshots, poetic X-rays capturing the fusion of mind and body. This graphic work demands absolute concentration. Yet, this graphic tension transutes on the canvas into a subtle breath. The artist masters the art of emptiness: her visual silences confer a monumental dimension to the slightest pencil stroke or the most minute chromatic saturation.

From the infinitely small to the cosmic

​

Guided by rhythmic dynamics, the rhythms of the living in her compositions oscillate between diffuse chromatic depths and prominent, perpetually mutating pictorial structures. Her works can be read on a dual scale, inviting the viewer into a twofold phenomenological experience: the quasi-microscopic observation of organic details and macroscopic contemplation, evoking the mapping of a galaxy. These creations carry within them a universal invariant. They emancipate themselves from their creator to witness, on a broader scale, the mysterious capacity of any being to inhabit space and to exist. Each of Pilar Lanau’s pieces thus presents itself as a perfect organization of thought, masterfully shifting between intimate introspection and the sheer tension of being.

About KhaOs Terres de l’Ebre

Inaugurated in July 2025 and freely inspired by the Prada Marfa conceptual installation, KhaOs Terres de l’Ebre is envisioned as a poetic object and an architectural manifesto. This multidisciplinary alternative space ("tiers-lieu") is entirely dedicated to contemporary creation, with the mission to unite and highlight both emerging and established talents.

Articulating art workshops open to all, exhibition programming, and cultural events, KhaOs deploys an approach in perfect symbiosis with its environment. As a direct extension of this philosophy, our food truck is set up at the heart of the site to transform the experience into a global ritual, blending local conviviality, design, and creative street food. More than just a gallery, the space asserts itself as a transversal, immersive, and deeply engaged cultural tool serving its territory.​​
